Camera & Lighting System

The camera and lighting system consists of a motorized camera wagon traveling on circular rails and two lighting rigs - one above the circle and one on the camera wagon.

Wagon speed and lighting effects are controlled programmatically via scripts. Actions can be triggered by time, wagon position on the circle, or poses of dancers via built-in human pose recognition. The system enables the integration of both camera position and lighting effects into a dance choreography.

Performance, from dance to a simple stature, is a diverse, three-dimensional and rhythmic experience. A camera that can be dynamically and rhythmically coordinated with music or choreography from all sides makes the audience part of the performance - they interact and perceive what is happening from all sides. The additional coordinated lighting enhances the immersive effect of the recordings.

Maximilian Weber

Maximilian Weber is a Viennese visual artist whose work explores human perception through manipulation of light in videography, photography and space.

Working primarily with lighting, robotics and computer programming, he engineers technologies to bend reality to his imagination, thereby creating mesmerizing, cutting-edge visuals.

From a young age Maximilian developed an interest in perception, especially in the effect of art on him and people in general. Attending Columbia University, he completed a Bachelor in Computer Science through a diverse curriculum focused on the arts. A trained scientist enthralled by perception and the arts, Maximilian uses technology to explore new frontiers of mesmerization.

His first work, Mirror, was exhibited at the Museo Civico di Brunico. The succeeding work, Digital Twin, was shown in the Galerie Rudolf Leeb as part of its “Encounters” exhibition.

Maximilian currently lives in Vienna.
